Marian grew up in the Gettysburg area and graduated from Gettysburg Area High School.  She earned a  Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Slippery Rock University in 1975.  Marian taught Physical Education in Queensland, Australia for two years.

 After returning from Australia, Marian answered the call to ministry and attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, earning her M.Div. in 1981.  She was ordained Deacon in 1980 and  Elder in 1982.  Marian’s ministry includes serving as assistant to the pastor at Faith UM, Waynesboro.  Her appointments have included the Doylesburg Charge (Doylesburg, Concord, New Germantown and Blain); Grace UM, Hanover; McVeytown Charge (McVeytown, Wayne and Wesley Chapel); Mt. Nittany UM, State College; UM Church of Wellsboro; and Trucksville UM.

Marian was appointed as Superintendent of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre District in 2013.  “God has called us and given us a new name – no longer Wyoming, we are now Susquehanna; no longer Wilkes-Barre  and Scranton, we are now Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.  God has a plan.  God is up to something!  I can’t wait to see what it is!” Marian enjoys the outdoors – hiking, biking, kayaking and skiing.  A fan of many sports, she has been an avid softball player and coach for many years.  When her schedule permits, she plays volleyball and also umpires Little League Baseball and Softball in all age levels.  Her favorite sporting event of the year is the Little League World Series.
